The Hossack Case
Catherine (Cassie) Hossack
Cassie was born in February 1874, and was the oldest child at home on the night of the murder. She slept upstairs in the same room with her younger sister, May.
She taught school before and after her father's death. After her mother's second trial, Cassie married Will Skelly and moved west, first living in Colorado and then Utah. Cassie never had children of her own, but, when her younger sister, Louie, died in childbirth, Cassie took Louie's baby, named Margaret Lucretia Kemp (called Marjie) and raised her until the child was twelve. Cassie died in Salt Lake City in 1921.
